**Thoughts on Animal Husbandry and Human Responsibility**

We too often assume that our own needs and desires as Humans are more important than that of every other creature on this planet. For us to put our importance in front of all of them is absolutely insulting. Sometimes, it seems as though we dont even care about our own needs, only the artificial ones that we have created for ourselves. We dont give our body proper nutrition, even though we easily could. We dont seem to care about our mental health either. We go about filling out heads with useless garbage and consumerism. Something is good for us if TV says it is.

Also, we have no concept of living within our own means. We dont try to use what the earth has given us without trying to abuse and control it. To use the earth is okay, as long as we dont harm it. To plant and harvest food carefully in keeping with the natural properties of the land is using, but not harming. We must learn the difference between planting and strip-mining or clear-cutting. There has to be a way to live without torturing every other creature that exists.

If you think it is wrong to take a human life, then how is it not also wrong to take the life of an animal who feels it as you do? Yes, we are different, but that is why we are even more responsible for what we do. We have the ability to recognize and protect things that cant fight for themsaelves, especially against others of our species that who havent relized this yet. I am not speaking against those without a choice for whatever reason, be they technological, financial, locational, but simply saying that if you can, why wouldnt you stop eccess death and suffering?

We kill extravagently and unneccessarily, not to supply our non-existent biological need for dead animal flesh. Animals can be used to help us if we know their talents and limitations, but they are nver our property. We have no right to claim that everything that exists is simply here to help us new degrees of self-importance and narcissism.
